Leasing and Finance bails out Malawi Paralympics

Leasing and Finance Company of Malawi (LFC) has bailed out the Malawi Paralympics Committee (MPC) with a K250 000 donation for this Sunday’s national finals of Presidential Paralympics Athletics Championships at Kamuzu Stadium.

MPC president James Chiutsi said they had a deficit, especially on prizes.

He thanked the lending and investment institution, which is a subsidiary of FMB Bank, for the donation yesterday.

“This support will go a long way in covering our deficit and help disabled athletes to enjoy sports,” he said.

LFC general manager Michael Ngwira said the donation is a beginning of a long term relationship with disability sports in the country.

“We are a company with a human face. We are also happy to be associated with Paralympics,” he said.

Regional finals of the competition concluded last weekend in the Northern Region where Rabecca Munthali and Frank Zgambo were beacons of sheer class and glamour at Mzuzu Stadium.

Each region will have six representatives during Sunday’s national finals.

The North will have Munthali, Zgambo, Patience Phiri, Thokozani Banda, Maureen Chirwa and Alfred Kamanga. Steven Napolo, Prastan Dominic, Anthony Chunga, Tiaonere Banda, Prisca Kachule and Grace Kambiri will represent the Centre while South will have Tereza Likeche, Emmanuel Gabriel, Harriet Doviko, Karen Kamowa, Mphatso Khambaza and James Charlie
